Red Sponge- Rostanga elandsia
This species of sponge is found around the Southern African Coast from the Atlantic side of the Cape Peninsula to the Eastern side of False Bay. It is only found in South Africa. It is normally found at around 30 meters below sea level. It absorbs the nutrients from the ocean by allowing the water to pass through its channels and pores. It digests food by absorbing it through its skin and turning it into ATP.
